Sweet baby Jesus, what an abomination.

Well if you’re going to do this to a car, might as well start with one that’s horrible

The LH cars were only horrible after the warranty expired, as new cars with repair work performed at Chrysler’s expense, they were decent.

Not only does the owner know what Desoto was but knows the styling cues it used. Part of that is that they’re old (Vietnam vet) but to carry it that far is something. The car is obviously terrible looking , but I think I’d enjoy meeting it’s owner.

You can’t quite read in the pictures, but he chose to brand it as an Adventurer, the top-of-the-line DeSoto, so he certainly knew what he was doing.
My guess is either he owned a real one when he was younger and really liked it, or, a family member/neighbor had one and it made an impression on him.

Ill admit they are comfy, and spacious. The only one I’ve driven was a 300m and it felt like a spaceship. I think the only big problem they had was the 3.7 motor.

I think the 3.5 was the biggest the LH cars got, but still quite problematic on its own. Mainly oil sludge, though there are other issues.

Not a very well known fact but Desoto (and Fargo) trucks were still manufactured in Turkey up to 2015. The Chrysler corporation was affiliated in this deal up to 2002.

Yeah, that was Askam, the company formerly known as Chrysler Sanayi. Chrysler Corp. sold their stake in the late ‘70s, when they divested all their overseas assets to get federal loan guarantees, but they kept on going with Fargo and DeSoto.

A truly horrendous engine. They used them in the early base LXs, too. Why, I have no idea.

Neither the front or rear lights are smoked. Color me shocked.
